Grand Pu Bah

Foodie Goodness May 17th, 2008

I just reviewed Grand Pu Bah on Yelp.

First of all, this place have an awesome name. I am impressed with the decor. Unfortunately for us for dining on a Sunday night, they ran out of oysters to make oyster shooters. We ordered a lot for two people and it’s been 3 weeks since so I forgot every item. I recall the sizzling spicy prawns & fried pork spare ribs is worth ordering. I wouldn’t order the hamachi sashimi. I love the fact that the sticky rice came out wrapped in banana leaf. It leaves such a great aroma on the rice. This place is definitely very fusion but they do have some authentic stir fried. Word of caution, when we asked for spicy, we got super spicy where I had to stop eating because my mouth was burning!

Bossa Nova

I just reviewed Bossa Nova on Yelp.

This place deserves 5 stars just for having hour happy prices on their yummy mojitos on SATURDAY! How awesome is that? I’ve been here twice for birthdays…once for happy hour and 2nd was dinner. We ordered:

Brazil Nut Crusted Goat Cheese w/ Cipollini Onion Jam
Sauteed Black Tiger Prawns “al Alhio”
“Hamachi Tiradito” w/ Rocoto Chili and Yuzu Dressing
Lamb Tenderloin kebob
Grilled Flatiron for Two w/ Fries, Red Wine and Peppercorn Sauce

I ordered medium rare flat iron steak and it came out perfect. Juicy and tender and the sauce is perfect. The lamb kebob is tender also. I’m not a big fan of goat cheese but I like it with the toasted bread slices. Hamachi have a nice kick but the yuzu dressing is bit salty for my taste. Also can’t go wrong with sauteed shrimp. I remember the tuna tartare to be good but will need to refresh my memory since I didn’t order it this time.

Minus 1 point because I don’t like the price vs portion ratio. This place can be loud especially when they have live music. I think this place is too small for that.
