Mama's Art Cafe

in Excelsior district where I paid $4 for a 16oz soy latte. This is where you pay for the free wifi through purchasing the drinks.

That's not too fair. I think Mamá's prices are more or less the same as other cafes in the area and (unlike other businesses) an enormous amount of their resources goes back to the community via free cultural events, after school programs and other neighborhood activities.

It is a fair assessment. I can name more than one local coffee shop that serves up delicious coffee in a same type and size of drink with an extra shot of expresso for $3.25 in the haight. This particular coffee shop also offers free wifi. That's just one example. My question is, what is it about Excelsior district that they have to charge more for expresso coffee drinks when other local coffee shops don't? Both their resources go back to the community.

Sorry Sillieee Bunnieee. I don't know. I'm guessing cafes in the Haight have vastly more customers and foot traffic than the Excelsior and therefore can charge less m'be? I'm a volunteer for a non-profit that uses the cafe as our primary venue. Because of Mamá's philanthropic efforts the cafe is baaarrely getting by. The main purpose of Mamá is provide community and cultural resources to the district so it was with it was with great regret and much debate they raised their prices recently. However, it was absolutely essential they do so in order to survive. ....really like your chandelier pics btw
