Bossa Nova

Foodie Goodness May 17th, 2008

I just reviewed Bossa Nova on Yelp.

This place deserves 5 stars just for having hour happy prices on their yummy mojitos on SATURDAY! How awesome is that? I’ve been here twice for birthdays…once for happy hour and 2nd was dinner. We ordered:

Brazil Nut Crusted Goat Cheese w/ Cipollini Onion Jam
Sauteed Black Tiger Prawns “al Alhio”
“Hamachi Tiradito” w/ Rocoto Chili and Yuzu Dressing
Lamb Tenderloin kebob
Grilled Flatiron for Two w/ Fries, Red Wine and Peppercorn Sauce

I ordered medium rare flat iron steak and it came out perfect. Juicy and tender and the sauce is perfect. The lamb kebob is tender also. I’m not a big fan of goat cheese but I like it with the toasted bread slices. Hamachi have a nice kick but the yuzu dressing is bit salty for my taste. Also can’t go wrong with sauteed shrimp. I remember the tuna tartare to be good but will need to refresh my memory since I didn’t order it this time.

Minus 1 point because I don’t like the price vs portion ratio. This place can be loud especially when they have live music. I think this place is too small for that.

To Go at Suruki Supermarket

I just reviewed Suruki Supermarket on Yelp.

Awesomely best To-Go food bang for your bucks! I bought a sashimi combo for $8.73 and it has big portions of salmon, tuna, hamachi, and mirugai and lots of wasabi! Only down side is that they don’t give you ginger with the sashimi but buying it individual only cost me $0.97! They have a large variety of to go food and everything looks and taste so fresh. So far, I’ve only tried the sashimi and seaweed salad. I recall paying $13 for sashimi at restaurants that aren’t as good and the portions are super small. Every time I am there, I want to buy everything! I will definitely go back often.
